I’ve been struggling with the thought of this for quite some time. Since December, to be exact. As much as I hate vague blog posts, here it goes.
The frequency to which I post here is going to slow down, a lot. Maybe to just two to three posts per week. I know this is not a very popular idea for a blogger, let alone someone like me. I can’t do things without doing them perfectly. I just can’t. If I’m going to do something, I have to do it well or I don’t even want to do it so this decision has not been rash by any means. It’s just something I need to do, for me.
Having a full-time job is a lot, having a blog is basically a second full-time job and then….well, there’s life. And sometimes life gets in the way. Right now, for me, it’s really important that I remove as much stress as I can and believe it or not, I stress out a lot about this little blog here (SHOCKER).
I will give you quality of posts over quantity of posts and I hope you will enjoy it. If you don’t, well screw you. I thank you all in advance for bearing with me while I change things up around here. I also wanted to thank you all for all your support during these past few months, it’s really meant the world to me.
For everyone that is annoyed that this post is vague, I stand by my belief that not everything needs to be shared on the internet.
And as a special treat, because I know you love them, this week I’m doing two outfit posts. You’re welcome.
Good for you! I’m struggling as well to find that balance. Quality over quantity is the best way to go! Best wishes on being less stressed and I’ll make sure to add your awesome blog to my bloglovin reader so I won’t miss when you do post!
I’ve done the same lately. There are just not enough hours in the day. Outfit posts are the quickest / easiest for me so that seems to be what my blog has (solely) turned into…as much as I’d love to do DIYs and recipes they unfortunately take a LOT of time. Anywho, I’m supportive. And yes, we have to meet up more in 2013 than we did in 2012. That was just pathetic…
xoxo
good for you! yes, life! sometimes I am sitting on my computer instead of enjoying time with my husband and friends to ask myself why. I remind myself what will be more important when I look back in ten years and quality time will be the answer. enjoy having a few hours in your week back!
I’ve been thinking the exact same thing, and things really came to a head this weekend (perhaps in the form of a mild tantrum at the age of 27), making it clear I’ve got some serious changes to make. I also just don’t have enough fun anymore, you know? This blogging world… can be such a curse at times. Here’s to doing less! xx
I definitely agree with you. I work 7-3 and come home to just work some more on my blog. It can take a lot out of you if you are posting daily. Glad you decided to enjoy life a little more!!! 🙂
I hear you. It’s so hard. The “life” portion has been suffering a lot for me so I’ve been scaling back too. It’s really hard to do everything… I applaud you for realizing that. And if it’s any consolation, I think that everything you do, you do spectacularly. 😉
good for you. xoxo
I only post twice per week, and while my monthly page views may not be great because of it, I am not producing shitty content just to fill the space. People prefer to read 2 quality posts per week instead of 2 good posts and 3 half-assed ones. Do what you gotta do! Chin up 🙂 Oh and P.S. I get these awesome email reminders every day that help me work on myself and not be a crappy person, and this one might resonate with you: “Learn to relax. Take time for yourself without feeling everything is up to you and that if you do not do it, chaos and disaster will result. ” xo
It’s so hard to do everything…I’m totally with you. Lately I’ve been trying to take the pressure off myself. I’m a perfectionist too, so if I do something, I’m going to do it full-speed ahead. That being said, a full-time (and consuming) job coupled with full-time blogging is overwhelming. This weekend, someone told me it made them sad that I said I couldn’t remember the last time I had “me time”…which made me sad. We all need to take a step back sometimes!
Do whats best for you friend & your loyal readers will come back to check in! Good luck with everything xo
Not mad at all that it’s vague. I just hope everything is okay. Having a full time job and running a blog is extremely hard. Honestly, I don’t know how everyone does it. You come first and we all understand that 🙂
You do you! Hope everything good, and hell yeah I am sticking with you your posts bring me such good laughs. Do you remember that time last winter I was in NYC and we were tweeting back and forth about you joking that I should come visit you at work? (ok if you dont this is seriously embarrassing) well every time I read your blog and love it, I think damn I should have tweeted back at her “are you serious because if so where is your office i wanna meet you!!!”.
Love ya, girl! Keep your head up and email me if you need to rage-type about anything off the blog. 😉 Take care of yourself! <3
Girl, take care of you first. Worry about us later.
Toby says he will always love you.
Good for you, Christin! Definitely not an easy decision to make, but you need to take care of yourself!
All of your readers will still be here 🙂
Totally hear you. When it jsut adds stress and takes away from the fun and enjoyment then you need to reprioritize. It’s so tough! But your fab and you’re not alone. XOXO
You take all the time you need and take care of yourself first. Blogs are supposed to be a fun thing, an outlet, a place to decompress and let yourself feel free and at ease. If blogging everyday isn’t doing it for you then I see no need to continue at that pace. Do what feels right for you. We’ll be here waiting for that next post, whenever it may come. 🙂
I SUPPORT! But you know this, and I love you!!!! PS – I haven’t had a comment on my blog in weeks, I guess I stink! 😉 (Cept for you, my mom or close friends!)
Good for you! I’ve been feeling the work/blog/life balance pressure lately too and have had to remind myself to take time for what truly matters. Quality over quantity is so much more important than just getting up posts because you feel like you have to. Your posts are always so well done, original and have a unique spin – you have some loyal readers (including me!) who will keep coming back no matter what the frequency is. I applaud you for taking time for what matters to you. It’s a good reminder to all of us that life isn’t lived in digi-land. 😉
Isn’t That Charming.
As everyone else says, good for you! I’m new to blogging, but quickly figured out the (imaginary?) 5-days-a-week posting rule, and it’s pretty…intense. What’s the point of being on a punishing schedule when the whole point is to bring more fun and beauty into your day?
Also, hope whatever’s going on in your personal life resolves soon and positively 🙂
Hope everything works out, and honestly, I think the whole “post five days a week or otherwise you are a bad blogger” rule is bullshit. I’ll take quality or quantity any day. xox.
Do yo thang. I can’t imagine doing more than 3 posts a week, I would flip my shit. I’ll still be routinely visiting your blog- I mean, you are on my Blog Roll!

I love you for recognizing that you need to take a step back. Sometimes slowing down and giving more attention to important things in your life is absolutely necessary. Lord knows balancing 50 things ain’t fucking easy! xoxo
I’ll be happy to see your posts, no matter how often they come. As long as you don’t stop blogging! I think most people understand that it’s really not possible to do everything. On an unrelated note- I love, love, love that shampoo you recommended! Can’t thank you enough xx
Not everything needs to be shared, and I understand. I hope all is well with you and that you are not too terribly over-whelmed. Good luck with everything. =]

I can imagine it must be really hard to keep both your job and this blog at the same time, but life is about balance and the first step into achieving it is realizing that you need it and identifying the priorities, so I think you’re on track 😉
Doesn’t matter how often your posts go up, your readers will like visiting here anyway 😉
i’ll still read! don’t stress yourself out over your blog. everything in moderation…you can only do what you can do and still stay sane. i think blogging (for me at least) comes in phases…sometimes i’m super creative and active and other times i’m not at all and it’s a chore. i think that’s normal. when the time is right and you have more time you have the option to post more…otherwise can’t wait to see 2-3 posts a week 🙂
hope you get guys get a freak 80 degree day this weekend!
totally understandable. i’m pretty sure anyone who blogs consistently knows how much time and effort has to go into each post. but i’m happy to hear that you’re not leaving for good 🙂 looking forward to your outfit posts this week! x
& Pretty Things
I totally get this. When I started my blog, I had a different job and lot of free time. Now, I don’t. And I decided that I would much rather live my life than spend time blogging about it so my posts have definitely decreased. Once I gave myself permission to do that, it became less stressful. Good for you!

I had originally started my blog as a way to pass the slow moments at work but it quickly turned into a consuming part of my life so I get where you’re coming from!
