gold stripes.

To say that I’ve taken my sweet time decorating our place would be the understatement of the century. But you know what they say, slow and steady wins the race. Obviously, that means I’m going to win this marathon, big time.

The “gold room” as we call it, is still a definite work in progress but it’s finally ready for it’s close up. I won’t even lie, I think my boyfriend is going to have to paint gold stripes in every place we live in from now to forever. He’s pretty good at it though, I mean, look at those babies.

I would like to note that I had these antlers way before it became a “blogger” thing. Okay?

I just adore my little piggy. My boyfriend has a thing with hoarding change. It used to be in a Dewar’s bottle. Dare I say, upgrade? Again I say, slow and steady wins the race.

My cowie, as I affectionally call him, was snagged up from ABC Carpet on super duper sale. Take note folks, in the way back on the left there is a huge sale section. Do not pass this up. Don’t do it! The sofa is also a sleeper for all of our lovely guests. But don’t get any ideas…

So what do you all think?

bedroom dressing

If there is one thing that I’ve taken my sweet time at, it’s decorating. We’ve been in our apartment thirteen whole months now and nope, still not done. I’d say the “living room” portion of the joint is in a good place. The rest? Can’t say as much. Overall, it’s about 80% done.

one // two // three // four // five
I currently have three of these five things, so I’d say that isn’t a bad start. However, the one thing we don’t have are lamps. Sooo there is a lot of clumsy Christin going on around the bed. It is ridiculous.
How do you approach decorating? Do you just bang it all out or do you take your time?

bedroom dilemma

You know how you’ve lived in your apartment a whole year and finally think you have the bedroom decor figured out and then you see the most amazing pin on pinterest and it makes you want to slit your wrists and bleed all over your pillows that you now hate? Yea, welcome to my life.

Perhaps the slitting of the wrists was a bit dramatic but seriously, I’m annoyed at myself.

You’ve seen a few photos of my bed on the instagram, but for those of you who haven’t below is a picture. Granted this isn’t perfect, or done. Please note the “not done” portion.

So my thinking was some fun DIY art above the bed, since my ceilings are ridiculously high, I thought I’d really take advantage of all that space. Until I saw this.

And obviously the train has gone off the tracks. I want gold frames with bright prints and all white everything. Well, that’s just terrific because I spent a small fortune on the west elm pillows.

living room thoughts

I will admit this: I am horrible at pulling the trigger on anything that is permanent, i.e. decor for our apartment. I get overwhelmed with serious anxiety and freak out. Perhaps I need therapy.

However, I finally replaced that rug with this one and got this table. It’s only taken me like six months to figure it out.

At first, I thought for sure I wanted color. Color, color, color. Then I realized that I’m afraid of color except for small doses. So, huge change of plans and enter the below color palate.

Yea, I know this is a bedroom but just pretend that the bed is a couch.

I bought the coffee table from CB2 and I’m seriously lusting after two gold poufs for under the table a la the photo above. I mean, how awesome is this?

The ceilings are ridiculously high in my apartment and I’ve been wracking my brain for something fun to do. We’re both kind of obsessed with maps but I can’t find one like this all blue one anywhere. So if you know, please tell me.
