bettin’ on the ponies

Let me tell you what kids, I had one busy weekend. Saturday we went to Belmont Racetrack to bet on the ponies and Sunday we went to the Bronx Zoo. I don’t even know who I am leaving the Island twice in the same weekend.

Let me just say that my boyfriend and I were not successful at betting. I’m pretty sure we (obviously I mean he) only lost like $20 so it wasn’t a big deal. My boyfriend’s cousin and his girlfriend were far more successful.

After a few races I just started to bet on the horses who had names that I loved. My favorite was Karma Shield. And Karma Shield would make me cry in a few minutes.

#7 is Karma Shield

Karma Shield’s jockey was some biotch named Rosie who is the world’s worst jockey, in my expert opinion. Basically, she killed my Karma Shield. Yes, she killed the horse.

This horse was a favorite to win and has a brother who is a serious winner. In fact, KS had a bad ass trainer also.

So yea, Rosie rode the horse like a stereotypical woman and it’s all her fault. Well, it’s partly my boyfriend’s cousins’ fault because he wished a broken leg on the #10 horse.

According, to the racing forums we checked Sunday morning, Karma Shield breaking his leg was a total jockey error.

SHE KILLED MY HORSE! His little leg was flopped under and he kept trying to stand on it and it just broke my heart. They brought the vets onto the track and covered the whole area with a black screen and euthanized him on the field. I really hope they fed Karma Shield to the Lions at the Bronx Zoo because that would actually make me not feel so bad.

Needless to say, I was traumatized. Not as bad as all these degenerate gamblers. I like to think that all the ripped bets on the floor are broken dreams.

How was your weekend?
